MELINDA MOORE
"THE DIGITAL PROCESS – REVOLUTION OR EVOLUTION?"
Presented on: Tuesday, May 7th, 2013

In recent years, many artists have begun to utilize digital methods in their work.

Melinda Moore gives us a short history of digital development and some of the trends she sees in the world of digital art. She explains some of the different styles of digital art, such as photo manipulation, math based fractals, digital painting , texturing, collage and montage, as well as some of the programs and tools that are used by the artists: Photoshop, GIMP, Corel Paint, Bryce, and Terragen, plus add on filters such as Topaz and NiK.

She shows examples by some top artists and share her insights into how these artworks are created, as well as some examples of her own work and her personal process, which relies heavily on texture montage.

Melinda believes that traditional and digital arts use many of the same concepts, such as balance, color theory, space, harmony and contrast, though the tools needed are very different.
