BONNEY GOLDSTEIN
"WOMEN PAINTING WOMEN"
Presented on: Tuesday, Jan 20th, 2015

Bonney Goldstein is a painter, educator, lecturer and curator with a studio in FAT Village, Fort Lauderdale. Join her for a comprehensive exploration of "Women Painting Women", a talk about our fast changing world, and how female artists record their experiences and deal with these changes. Louise Bourgeois changed the subject matter for female artists and opened subjects that were never dealt with before. Had someone like Louise not done this, the question becomes would there have been room for others like Tracy Emin or Jenny Seville or Lisa Yuskavage, to go in the directions they did, and have the kind of success they achieved. Female roles, physical appearances, sexuality, and standards have changed...female artists are recording this in a myriad of compelling, often controversial ways.

Bonney has studied at the Art Student League in NYC and Denver, Co. She received her MFA from Goddard College in Vermont. She’s been an artist for over 50 years and a teacher of art for the last12 years, including at Truro Center for the Arts. She has organized many Art Talks at the Fort Lauderdale Museum of Art and around Broward and Miami Dade Counties. Her work is a visual diary of time passing, invisibility and the isolation of today's world, and is shown in galleries in many major cities in the US. She’s had a one person show at the University of Massachusetts, was included in the Boca Museum All Florida Exhibition, and won many awards. She was an art dealer/ consultant for major corporations such as IBM Corporation Education Center, American Airlines in Dallas, Texas, and EDS Corporate Headquarters in Texas, New York, and Detroit.
