LISA ROCKFORD
"MINER, HACKER, AND MANIPULATOR"
Presented on: Tuesday, Jan 5th, 2021

Though you may know Lisa Rockford for her wide ranging, innovative and often provocative curated exhibitions, Lisa also maintains an active studio practice, with artwork that is equally provocative. The work addresses cultural topics from body image and gender to patriotism, consumerism, and the media, utilizing and re-interpreting archetypes, and questioning American traditions and behaviors.

Lisa is attracted to interdisciplinary approaches, utilizing whatever media or processes will achieve the idea, whether by drawing, painting, collage, sewing, or assemblage, using oils, image transfers, found objects, quilted lambskin, and more.

In this Art Salon, Lisa will present a lecture about her own artwork, entitled “Miner, Hacker, & Manipulator,” presenting several different series’ that are a result of her “hunting, gathering, and cooking” method - collecting, sorting, and curating images and objects into artworks.
